Spring

Just like a new beginning, Saur Mountain Village is a glorious canvas of colours during spring. From the pink-white blossoms of apricot trees to the pleasing red of the buransh rhododendrons and the mix of colours of the wildflowers, Saur Village is beautiful at the time of spring. Holi festival? Villagers plant peas, potatoes, garlic, onions, ginger and barley, mandua to be harvested in April/May.

Summer

While the plains of Northern India are sweltering in heat, Saur Mountain Village has a mellow climate. The days during summer are nice and sunny with a breeze blowing and it is a perfect offbeat escape from the hot weather of Delhi. Villagers plant paddy in April/May to be harvested in September – October.

Rainy Season / Monsoon

Entire Saur village is bathed in different shades of green in the monsoon season. The rain clouds envelop the lush green fields in mist resulting in a serene and romantic feel. It is a perfect time for the city dwellers to experience the magic of the rains in Saur during the monsoon. Pulses and vegetables like rajma (kidney beans), corn, gahatkidall, carrots, cauliflower, radish are sown in the fields during June & July to be harvested in October – November.

Autumn

Saur village has a golden feel during the autumn season. The fields are all yellow when the rice and paddy crop is ready for harvesting. The swaying swathes of fields look especially pleasing when the wind rushes through the valley. The villagers sow mustard in August to be harvested in December.

Winter

Winter in Saur Village is the time when the weather is at its coldest. Depending on the weather forecast, it snows in the village and the entire landscape is blanketed in white. The villagers have plenty of time to sit and enjoy the winter huddled in the warmth of their traditional homes as farming work comes to a standstill and is only confined to cleaning the fields and making them ready for sowing later. Winter is an apt time for bonding with your close ones around a bonfire when the surroundings are silent and nights are brightly starry!
